In South Goa, everything was beautiful. Our R.C.I. resort, the Royal Palms was gorgeous, clean and comfortable. It had a huge and very clean pool with lots of activities for everyone to enjoy. South Goa is what I call paradise.
Mikhaila and I had so much fun doing arts and crafts such as painting pots and plates.
We even entered a drawing competition. I drew a giraffe and an elephant from our game drives in Tanzania.
Mikhaila drew a fairy dance party. She won the contest and received a chocolate bar as a prize.
Since we did not have beach toys (buckets and shovels), to build things in the sand, we just cut the tops off of our empty bottles and used the top as a shovel and the bottom as a bucket. Mikhaila and I built strong sand castle walls. Every day, the water washed away our work but we would gladly start again.
We had a great time playing with our “sand toys,” but still miss playing with our toys from home… So when we saw some Barbie and Kelly dolls, we got really excited. We were even more excited when we noticed that they were Indian dolls wearing saris! We first saw them when we arrived at the New Delhi airport, and continued to notice them as we traveled around India.
When we found them again in South Goa, we decided to buy them and start our very own international Barbie collection. From now on, we are going to collect Barbies from around the world with different nationalities. We bought one for me and one for Mikhaila. One of them is a bride wearing a gold wedding sari and a lot of jewellery. She reminded me of our Indian wedding experience. We decided to name her Parvati after the wife of Shiva (we saw the sculpture of the marriage of Parvati and Shiva on Elephanta Island in Mumbai).
The other Barbie is wearing a beautiful pink sari. We named her Nadira. We found her name off the Internet under top Indian girl names.
Mikhaila and I are having so much fun with these Barbie dolls. We already did a photoshoot!
Parvati and Nadira are the start of our international Barbie collection. We can’t wait to add other Asian Barbie dolls to our collection!
We had such a great time in South Goa and I would really recommend staying at the Royal Palms Resort for a vacation. South Goa was so relaxing and fun that by the end of our stay, we were really struggling whether to stay longer or not. Since our trip has only gotten better and better, we decided to move on to see what other new adventures would come our way…. How about a thirteen hour overnight train ride to Kerala? Stay tuned for more!

Loving all your post about India! Makes me want to go back and visit!
Thank you for sharing!!!
Hi!
I did not know you visited India! 🙂 Where did you go? Did you go to South Goa?
Sounds like you had an amazing time in Goa, filled with fun and relaxation. It looks like you had the beach to yourselves too which would have been wonderful. Your pictures for the art competition were great and I hope you get to bring your pots home with you. Nadira and Parvati are two lucky Barbies to be coming to live at your house….eventually! Can’t wait to hear about the train ride Zoe! Travel safely and lots of love to all, Teta Doreen xoxo
Hi!
We did have an amazing time in Goa. 🙂 I think that I will bring my picture home and put it in a frame beside my pot . 🙂 As for Nadira and Parvati, we can make a nice and big house for them to live in. Any ideas for a design? 🙂
Hi Zoe,
I loved your commentary and beautiful pictures. You are so right that the place and area where you are staying makes you feel that you are in paradise. The pictures are the proof!!!! It’s great that you are collecting dolls from around the world!!!! How was the Train ride????? Love, Baba
Hi!
Unfortunately, we did not see any dolls in Tanzania… It would have been really neat to get some from there to! I hope we find Asian dolls in China! 🙂
The train ride was so much fun! I had a great time! 🙂
You and your family have me seriously rethinking my attitude about ever visiting India. It was never going to be on my ‘Bucket List’, but the way you have described you experiences ( the ups and the downs..mainly ups) have me intrigued. The pottery and the drawings look like so much fun! Art classes so far away from home, who knew? Did they have an instructor there?
The beach there will have you spoiled for any beaches here in the West. Like Doreen, I will be very interested in your train adventure!
Hi!
India was not on my bucket list either, but when we arrived, I was so happy to be there! 🙂
There was no instructor to teach us art, they just let us paint/draw whatever we wanted however we wanted. 🙂
