After our amazing boat ride through the backwaters, we decided to do something else adventurous. We stayed on an island resort called Our Land in Alleppey, also known as Alapuzzah, and it was a great experience.
Our Land resort was built on an island which was once the hide out of a fierce bandit! Luckily, there are no bandits there today, so no worries. To get from the “mainland” to the resort, we had to take a “water taxi”, otherwise known as a canoe. We were a bit worried all our luggage would fall in the water, but the canoe was big and strong. We even had another couple and their luggage riding with us!
On the island, there are 6 bungalows. Zoe and I had the chance to stay in the coolest one; it was a treehouse! Our balcony also had the best view of the water. All the bungalows had hammocks near them, so we spent some time in them relaxing and looking at the water. I think my parents really enjoyed this part of our stay. 🙂
One of my favourite things about the resort was learning why it was named Our Land. The owners want to make the guests feel comfortable and at home. All the guests sit together at meals and participate in activities as a group so everyone gets to know each other. I think this is a great idea and shows how inclusive people are.
We had a wonderful time staying at Our Land resort and met some great people. We think we will return, if not for the beautiful scenery and the amazing people, then to check out the new Ayurveda building opening soon! 🙂

Wow. Pretty close to paradise. Small but beautiful . How long were you there? Was the weather also beautiful? Loved the tree house!
Hi Herta,
We stayed there for one night, but I would have loved to stay longer! The weather was really nice; not too hot, and not too cold. It was a lot of fun! 🙂
Sounds so peaceful at Our Land. How many people were staying there when you were? Where were they from? I think your mom is starting to shrink – the girls are catching up Kat!!! Travel safely, Love Teta Doreen xoxo
Hello Teta Doreen,
We met two couples from India (including the ones on the boat ride with us) and I think there was another group of about four people. I’m feeling taller everyday; must be all the sunshine and yummy food! 🙂
Hi Mikhaila,
You are so right–You had the best and most exciting bungalow–The Tree House! I’m glad that you enjoyed the hammocks so much!!
I notice that you had netting for night, so is it a problem with mosquitoes? It certainly looked like paradise!!! Love, Baba
Hi Baba,
It was a lot of fun staying in the tree house for the night! There might have been mosquitos, but I was too busy sleeping to notice! 🙂
