To end off our wonderful time in Hawaii, we went on a hike up Diamond Head and went surfing at Waikiki!
Our first stop was Diamond Head.
We had to get up early in the morning while the sun was not too hot. Before we started climbing, we were drove through a tunnel at the base of Diamond Head.
If you would like to travel through the tunnel on your device, click here and use the arrows on the screen to navigate it if you are on a ipad, or double click the road through the tunnel on your computer:
We climbed all the way up the volcano and back down. We loved the views!
The hike reminded me of Masada because of all of the switchback paths.
After the hike we were so hot that we had to go surfing.
Listen to this music as you read the rest of my blog post.
Thats what I sang when I was riding the big waves on a surfboard!
We got to the beach and were so excited to surf for the first time. Our instructors taught us how to surf and what to do.
Finally, we were ready to go out!
We had to paddle and paddle until we reached the perfect surfing spot.
We surfed for an hour, though it was so fun that it felt much shorter. I had my own surf instructor who told me when to go. She also said that I was a natural because I did really well! I think we are the new Queen’s and King of the waves!
Unfortunately, we had to leave our paradise but were excited to go on to our next adventure, sailing the Pacific Ocean and dodging icebergs.
In Hawaii, the locals never say “goodbye”, they say, “until we meet again”.
So A Hui Hou Hawaii! On to Alaska!

WOWSA! I had trouble even standing up on the darned thing! Well done guys! You looked amazing and it must have felt cool! Gidget would have ben proud! ( ask your mom about that).
Hi!
We had really, really big boards so there was a lot of space to stand and balance. Of coarse I did fall off a lot, but we only showed the photos of us standing. It was so much fun! Where did you surf?
I tried in South Carolina and somewhere in the Caribbean ( it was a LONG time ago!).
Have to spell check…”would have BEEN proud!” sheesh!
Hi Zoe.
I enjoyed the tour through the tunnel, and the view from the top of the Volcano! Those lessons all of you took certainly showed your skills in surfing. When I played your surfing song, I could certainly tell you were singing it when you were standing upright on the board! All of you looked great, and I’m glad that all of you had such a fun! Great report and wonderful pictures! A Hui Hou Hawaii! Love, Baba (Loved the surfing Song!)
Hi!
When I was standing, I did sing, but it did not last long because (SPLASH) I kept falling off! 🙂
Looks like so much fun and you were so good at surfing too Zoe! I am not surprised as you are so athletic. Your next adventure sounds intriguing. Travel safely! Love to all, Teta doreen xox
Hi!
Thank you for your complements. Have you ever been to Hawaii? If so, did you surf? If not, you should go there and surf! 🙂
