After a fantastic time in Belgium, we turned east towards Germany. Since we were “in the neighbourhood”, we thought it would be nice to meet up with some family and friends!
Our first stop was Hamburg, where we met up with Katina’s cousins Alexis and Ushi, and their two girls Sophia (12) and Lea (6). We had last seen them in 2011, and the girls have really grown a lot…most notably Sophia who is now almost 5’3”!! We had a lovely barbecue dinner on the terrace at their home the weather was beautiful, the food delicious, and it was really nice to catch up. The kids just seemed to carry on as though no time had passed at all! Rainbow Loom transcends all languages!
The next evening we met with my aunts and family. Marion and Jens treated us to a lovely dinner, again on the back terrace under clear skies! The kids – Finn (7) and Mika (almost 4) had a blast with Mikhaila and Zoe on the trampoline in their backyard. We also had the chance to catch up with my aunt Christiane, who I have not seen for a couple of years.
Our stop in Hamburg was short and sweet, and we then decided to go to Berlin for a couple of nights while enroute to Dresden. Make sure you see Mikhaila’s post on our tours of Berlin. Coincidentally, our friends Lydia and Peter were in Berlin at the same time as we were! Lydia is pursuing her opera career and is attending auditions and singing in a number of upcoming competitions. We are so proud of Lydia for following her dream and amazed with the level of support Peter is providing. We got together for dinner at a nice German restaurant and ate on the patio. Again, the weather was extremely cooperative.
With our go-go-go schedule we have been following, it has been really nice to take a bit of down-time with family and friends.
As always we are open if anyone would like to come and meet us while we’re on the road!
Hint…hint… 🙂

What a great visit!! We thoroughly enjoy reading the updates from all of you (especially the recipes!), but having a chance to see all of you and talk about some of your adventures was so much fun. What you are doing is so truly amazing!
Rumour has it there may be a future post detailing another encounter… 🙂
It was so nice to connect with people from home! Even though we’re getting really good at making new friends, it’s still great to catch up with people from back home!
We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again…
If anyone wants to meet/join us you’re more than welcome!
