What do you call the best surprise ever? I call it a day at Wonderla!
It all began after my family and I thought of a great idea. A blog post writing competition between my dad and I! We both had to write our blog posts and the one that was most interesting would win a day of whatever they wanted. I said that if I won, we would get a day where no one did any work and we would get to play games and watch movies the whole day. My dad said that if he won, I would have to write one of his blog posts.
We decided on two blog posts from Jaipur: Elephantastic for me and the Jewel Called Jaipur for my dad. I really wanted to win the competition, so I got right to my post. My dad and I both finished at about the same time, and they were both really good, but (luckily for me) I won. But instead of my no work day, my parents changed it up a bit with a surprise day. Mikhaila and I kept asking and asking about what we were going to do, but my parents would not tell us. Finally, our surprise day arrived. We were so excited to find out what it was!
We arrived at a place called Wonderla! At first, I thought it was a zoo, but then my parents told us that it was a…. drumroll please…….(Drum, drum, drum, drum, drum) Amusement park!
We were greeted by a friendly boy dressed up in a clown suit. We got Fast Track tickets so we could avoid the huge lines, and off we went to start our day!
The first ride we went on was the Caterpillar Train which is a gentle roller coaster ride in the shape of a caterpillar.
After that, we went on a ride called Wonderla Bamba. It went up and down in circles and reminded me of one of the rides at the C.N.E.
Then, we went on one called Vintage Tornado. It had really steep hills and went really fast! It reminded me of The Fly at Canada’s Wonderland.
The next ride, just my mom and I went on. It was called the Twin Flip Monster. It spins and flips you upside down! It was so much fun! I was yelling the entire time!
After that amusing ride, Mikhaila and I went on a ride called Super Jumper. It is a ride that does super jumps! Mikhaila and I had so much fun pretending to jump high in the air.
The next ride we went on was called Dancing Cars. It had a lot of spinning. The floor, each group of cars and each individual car were spinning!
By the end of the Dancing Cars ride, we were all really, really hot and spun out. We decided to cool off with a ride called Wonder Splash. It reminded me of the log ride at the C.N.E. because of the big SPLASH at the end.
The Wonder Splash ride kept us cool while we got ready for the water park. The first ride we went on was called Fun Glides. It reminded me of the ride called Riptide Racer at Canada’s Wonderland.
After that, we went on one called Water Pendulum. I went with my mom and Mikhaila went with our dad. It was enjoyable going back, and forth, and back, and forth, and back, and forth just like a swing.
The next slide we went on was called the Family Slide. The four of us sat in a huge tube that looked like a life boat. The tubes looked almost the same at the Super Soaker ride at Canada’s Wonderland.
After the family slide, we went on one called Boomerang. It was like the Water Pendulum except it started with a tube water slide and was taller.
After the Boomerang slide, we went to one of the wave pools. The waves were fun to jump in and reminded me of the waves at the beach in South Goa except not as big.
The rides were all a lot of fun and the water park was refreshing, but I think the most interesting activity in the water park was the Rain Disco. Everybody was inside a building dancing to loud music under huge showers and flashing lights. It was great!
As you can see, there are a lot of similarities between Wonderla, the C.N.E, and Canada’s Wonderland, but there are also some differences. For example, there are separate sections for men and women at the wave pools and Rain Disco. Also, some of the rides are for ladies and kids only. Something else I noticed was that in the water park, everyone wore their everyday clothing instead of bathing suits.
There were also signs pointing in the direction of the prayer hall. I found this to very interesting that they would have a prayer hall at the amusement park.
We also found the prices of everything to be very reasonable. For example, the four tickets and fast track tickets costed $80 total whereas at Canada’s Wonderland, if we bought fast track and day passes, it would be $400 total. Also, when we ordered four orders of biryani (a traditional Kerala lunch or dinner) it was only $10 total, whereas at Canada’s Wonderland and at the C.N.E, food is a lot more expensive.
We had a fantastic time at Wonderla! It was the best surprise ever! I would recommend it to everyone who goes to Kerala. Don’t forget to go on the Twin Flip Monster!

Hi!
I fully agree, my parents are the best ever! We are glad you are enjoying our blog posts. 🙂
Hi Zoe,
your report of Wonderla is great and we had so much fun looking at the pictures. Although uncle Soto and I have been to Kerala last year we unfortunately missed it, because we concentrated in Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation.
We hope there will be a second chance … Continue enyoing India!
Hi!
You should go to Kerala again! 🙂 We had such a great time at Wonderla and I would gladly go again any time! 🙂
What a great surprise! Most interesting how the folks there wear their regular street clothes for the water rides. I do have a question though, since you won this, and both you AND your dad got to enjoy the surprise, doesn’t he still owe you a little something? Just saying…..
Hi!
I will talk to my dad about that little extra something… We will see what he says.
Well done Zoe! Do Mikhaila and your mom have a writing competition next? Wonderla looks like a lot of fun, especially all the water rides in the heat of the day! Travel safely, Love Teta Doreen xoxo

Hi guys its Katherine I’m just saying that I think that it was really cool that you guys went to an amusement park. Also where was this no homework rule when I was there? (:
Hi!
If you wanted a no homework rule, you would have had to enter in a writing competition! 🙂
How did you like the look of the Twin Flip Monster ride? I think you should go to Kerala to go on that ride…. It was so much fun, but scary at the same time!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Hi!
I agree, it was a win win situation for all of us.
For the Vintage Tornado ride photo, I think Mikhaila, my mom and I were having so much fun that we were laughing and yelling at the same time! As for my dad, I think he was SURPRISED! 🙂
