Limerick Sat. July 19
Last night we went to the town of Limerick to see a limerick writing competition. There were more than 40 competitors there who read out their limericks. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to hear all of them but we arrived to find out who the winners were. In third place was a lady who wrote about bees, in second place, a lady who wrote about the river Shannon in Irish, and first place was a man who wrote about something inappropriate for children. It was very cool and inspired us to write our own limericks! Here is mine:
Here on the Emerald Isle
There are no houses for a mile!
With many a farm
But feel no alarm,
The sight could make you smile.
We introduced ourselves to the organizers, who were so happy to have us there to hear the limericks, that they gave us a copy of The Curious Story of the Limerick, by Matthew Potter (book info here).
